Vinted Shoppers Express Displeasure Regarding Sizing Modifications

Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.

The popular resale platform has updated its size classifications for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.

Social Media Response

Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.

Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms.

The platform has recommended to review their products and update the measurements by hand when needed, resulting in member annoyance.

Measurement Approach Modifications

Previously, the sizing featured one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

User Accounts

Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

A different member, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.

Necessary Adjustments

Another shopper, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".

"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said.

Marketplace Information

The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.

It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: previously, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options following member complaints.
